Wool is a natural, renewable fiber generated from animal fleece. Pure wool products are biodegradable and can be returned to the earth at the end of their life. Their inherent antibacterial properties mean less frequent washing and, when cared for properly, will last years.

Of all the wool used across the LITA assortment, 74% is sourced under the strict guidelines of the Responsible Wool Standard, ensuring the wool is sourced from farms with a holistic respect for the welfare of the sheep and the land they graze on.

Nylon is a petroleum-based, synthetic product. Whenever possible, we try to use recycled synthetic materials over virgin synthetics. Recycled nylon repurposes waste from a variety of sources including fabric scraps, nylon fishing nets and plastic bottles. By using this recycled material, we help clean our oceans, recycle waste, and cut out the need for raw materials like crude oil, which are traditionally used in the production of nylon.

Our commitment to having a high impact on people and a low impact on the planet is ongoing. We know that most of the impact on the planet happens as the clothing is being made, so we have our Goods Mandate in place, helping us make the best planet-conscious decisions when it comes to our materials. While we are committed to 70% of our materials coming from the Best/Better categories, we haven’t hit the mark yet. One of the biggest challenges for smaller brands is getting access to the right materials while meeting minimum order quantities. Ordering more than we need to meet these minimums just creates waste and that’s not a tradeoff we are willing to make. We aren’t perfect but we are headed in the right direction.

Our commitment to moving the world forward is an ongoing goal. Not only is climate conscious innovation part of this team effort, 3% of profit, after product costs, goes to the Why Not You Foundation, a nonprofit empowering today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders.
