POSITIVE IMPACT
It patinas like a dream, and looks—and feels better—with age. But while it’s definitely heirloom worthy, it’s not always planet friendly. Which is why we’ve chosen one of the most eco-friendly options today: leather from tanneries that have achieved the highest level (a gold rating) of sustainable environmental and workplace practices, as determined by the Leather Working Group.
Our commitment to having a high impact on people and a low impact on the planet is ongoing. We know that most of the impact on the planet happens when the clothing is being made, so we have our Goods Mandate in place, helping us make the best planet-conscious decisions when it comes to our materials. While we are committed to 70% of our materials coming from the Best/Better categories, we haven’t hit the mark yet. One of the biggest challenges for smaller brands is getting access to the right materials while meeting minimum order quantities. Ordering more than we need to meet these minimums just creates waste and that’s not a tradeoff we are willing to make. But we are growing with real demand and are being creative about franchise fabrics. We aren’t perfect but we are headed in the right direction.
