We use this material for its impeccable quality and its timeless aesthetic. When looked after well, leather can retain its quality finish for years to come, supporting a slower fashion model.

We require that all leather in our clothing is sourced as a by-product of the meat industry, meaning we only use animal skins that would have otherwise gone to waste. Additionally, the tanneries we work with have all been awarded a Gold Rating from The Leather Working Group. Tanneries and leather producers can achieve either an Audited Rating, Bronze, Silver or Gold – (Highest rating). LITA by Ciara uses leather from tanneries with the highest Gold rating.

Our commitment to having a high impact on people and a low impact on the planet is ongoing. We know that most of the impact on the planet happens as the clothing is being made, so we have our Goods Mandate in place, helping us make the best planet-conscious decisions when it comes to our materials. While we are committed to 70% of our materials coming from the Best/Better categories, we haven’t hit the mark yet. One of the biggest challenges for smaller brands is getting access to the right materials while meeting minimum order quantities. Ordering more than we need to meet these minimums just creates waste and that’s not a tradeoff we are willing to make. We aren’t perfect but we are headed in the right direction.

Our commitment to moving the world forward is an ongoing goal. Not only is climate conscious innovation part of this team effort, 3% of profit, after product costs, goes to the Why Not You Foundation, a nonprofit empowering todays youth to be tomorrows leaders.
